The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, To the soul who seeks Him. (Lamentations 3:25 NKJV)
The word wait by definition means to remain inactive or in a state of rest until something expected happens. Everyone is waiting for something. We wait to finish school, for a work promotion, for the weekend, we wait for a spouse, we wait for retirement and ultimately we wait to die. Some people refuse to wait and bring about their own misery. Cutting in front of another person in the grocery store line up would cause an argument. Moving ahead of another vehicle while waiting in traffic results in road rage. Marrying the wrong person ends in divorce. Making independent decisions hastily ahead of God’s perfect plan brings much trouble and grief to our lives. Waiting for a plant to grow and develop a flower is worthwhile. Resting in God’s Word knowing that as we wait He is growing our faith and developing our patience is invaluable. The Lord has promised us the best if we pass His patience test.
