I can never escape from your Spirit! I can never get away from your presence! If I go up to heaven, you are there;if I go down to the grave, you are there. If I ride the wings of the morning,if I dwell by the farthest oceans, even there your hand will guide me,and your strength will support me. I could ask the darkness to hide me and the light around me to become night— but even in darkness I cannot hide from you. (Psalm 139:7-12 NLT)

A disobedient child’s first reaction is to flee the scene of the crime and hide their actions from their parents. In the beginning God’s very first disobedient children were Adam and Eve. They also attempted to hide themselves in the shadows of the Garden of Eden after they sinned for the first time. Today people make their own shadows to hide sin in the form of rationalization of actions, discrediting or misinterpreting God’s Holy Word or pretending He does not exist. We cannot play hide and seek with our all powerful, all present Creator God who shines His light in the darkness of our hearts. The Good News is that we no longer need to live in the dark shadows of guilt. Repenting for our sins and putting our faith in the blood of Jesus cleanses us from all unrighteousness.
