Then Jesus told them this parable: “Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Does he not leave the ninety‑nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it? And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders and goes home.”
(Luke 15:3-5)
The Lord Jesus loves us so much that He was willing to leave heaven and come down to earth looking for sinners who have lost their way. The Bible says that He will return again to gather all believers and take them to their eternal home. Many scoffers critically
ask “Where is this ‘coming” he promised? (2 Peter 3:4) “The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.
(2 Peter 3:9) “Bear in mind that our Lord’s patience means salvation.”
(2 Peter 3:15) The Lord has not yet returned for His followers because in His great mercy and love He is patiently waiting to reach as many people as possible with the Good News of salvation so that none will perish. Today many Christians filled with the love of God leave the comfort of their families or churches in search of lost souls to joyfully lead them to heaven with the life saving message of Jesus Christ. God gives us the freedom to reject or receive this message and many will “perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved.”
(2 Thess 2:10)
