Soul Food

Meanwhile, the disciples urged Him saying, Rabbi, eat something. Jesus said to them, My food (nourishment) is to do the will (pleasure) of Him Who sent Me and to accomplish and
completely finish His work.
(John 4:31, 34 AMP)
Good food is very satisfying and one of the simple pleasures in this life. It nourishes our body and gives us strength to finish our day. Accomplishing God’s will for our lives strengthens us spiritually and brings pleasure to our Creator.

Hope For The Journey

Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see.
(Hebrews 11:1 NLT)
We plan a cruise hoping for a good journey to a beautiful destination as we put our faith in the sea worthiness of the ship and the navigational abilities of the captain even though we have never personally met him face to face. We hope for our heavenly journey putting our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ to bring us there safely. Even though we have never seen Him face to face we believe in the trustworthiness of His Word.

All That We Are

You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.
(Deuteronomy 6:5 NKJV)
The Bible says that God created us in His image. (Gen. 1:27) He made us with a triune nature; spirit, soul and body. The heart is the deep inner spirit of man. The soul constitutes the conscious will, intellect and emotional portion of a person. Our bodies have the strength to physically act out what the heart desires and the soul is thinking about. Rise up and give all that we are in worship of our magnificent creator God.

Submerged

“Each of you must repent of your sins and turn to God, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. Then you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
(Acts 2:38 NLT)
On August 29 2005, Hurricane Katrina made landfall in New Orleans LA and became the deadliest, most destructive and costliest natural disaster in the history of the United States. At least 1,836 people died in the actual hurricane and in the subsequent floods.
The city of New Orleans flooded as the levee system catastrophically failed leaving 80% of the city submerged and the floodwaters lingered for weeks.[1]
Exactly 7 years later to the day Hurricane Isaac is predicted to strike New Orleans. God is a Creator and not a destroyer but He sometimes permits life’s storms as warning messages. It is better to voluntarily submerge ourselves being baptized in God’s blessings then to be involuntarily submerged and baptized in the floods of destruction.

Rainy Day Perspectives

He (God) causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.
(Matthew 5:45 NIV)
When disappointment rains down to ruin life’s plans unrighteous people complain miserably about getting wet but the righteous ones rejoice knowing that a good soaking helps them grow.

Opportunities Have Doors

“I (Jesus) know all the things you do, and I have opened a door for you that no one can close. You have little strength, yet you obeyed my word and did not deny me.
(Revelation 3:8 NLT)
The Lord observes all the details of our lives and He opens the doors of opportunity for His faithful followers who persevere. If we force our way through doors that were not to be opened we end up entering places that we ought not to go. It is when we do not even possess the strength to open a door that the Lord opens up a way for us. Opportunities have doors but wait for the Lord to open them.

World Changers

Then Jesus returned to Galilee, filled with the Holy Spirit’s power. Reports about him spread quickly through the whole region. He taught regularly in their synagogues and was praised by everyone.
(Luke 4:14, 15 NLT)
The Lord Jesus was homeless and He never had any church building yet He completely transformed the world and continues to do so this very day. World changers do not require the things of this world to change this world. World changers use what is from out of this world to change this world. Get filled with the Holy Spirit and change the world!

The Heart’s Desire

And you shall love the Lord your God with all your [mind and] heart and with your entire being and with all your might.
(Deuteronomy 6:5 AMP)
It’s easy to identify what people love in the world. They wear it on their clothing as labels. They buy their favorite sports team cap and watch all the games on television. The Bible instructs us to love the One who created the very fabric of our clothing and the athletic fields we run on first and foremost. If we love God we will not hesitate to acknowledge Him in all areas of our lives giving Him public glory. We are what we love and what we love is expressed outwardly through our actions.

Right On Time

He (God) does everything just right and on time, but people can never completely understand what he is doing.
(Ecclesiastes 3:11 NCV)
We live in a busy world that never stands still. We rush to and fro all day long frantically attempting to accomplish our own agendas. We become frustrated when our plans are not completed within the set timeframe. The Bible instructs us to “Live by following the Spirit. Then you will not do what your sinful selves want.” (Galatians 5:16 NCV) When we submit to God’s perfect will and listen for His direction we will have the peace to know that we are always right on time.

Love Without Boundaries

The woman was surprised, for Jews refuse to have anything to do with Samaritans. She said to Jesus, “You are a Jew, and I am a Samaritan woman. Why are you asking me for a drink?” Jesus replied, “If you only knew the gift God has for you and who you are speaking to
(John 4:9, 10 NLT)
Sometimes we hear of a long distance overseas romance that develops into a beautiful relationship. Strong love overcomes all the oceans of separation and national affiliations of this world. When a man is entirely devoted to a women there is no geographical, cultural, racial or linguistical boundaries that can stop his love. In this Bible passage we see Jesus entering into Samaria and speaking with a women about the kingdom of God and salvation. Historically it was not politically correct for a Jewish man to even acknowledge a person of Samaritan nationality and especially a women. The strong love that Jesus had motivated Him to cross all the cultural boundaries of palestine to reach one soul. Love came down from heaven into our dimension when Jesus set His eyes on the people of the earth to rescue them from the oceans sin and no earthy boundaries can stop His great love.
