Then, what looked like flames or tongues of fire appeared and settled on each of them. And everyone present was filled with the Holy Spirit and began speaking in other languages, as the Holy Spirit gave them this ability.
(Acts 2:3, 4 NLT)

A piece of drift wood on a beach with
seemingly no place to go. The sun scorches the wood day after day making it dry and brittle. Sometimes life’s disappointments can make
us feel washed up and hopeless without purpose. Problems wear us down to the point of weakness. After Jesus ascended to heaven His disciples were left disappointed and fearful but they waited in prayer for the Lord’s promised Holy Spirit. Without wood there is no fire and dried up driftwood bursts into flames quickly. The Lord chooses us in our brokenness to do His best work. He lights us ablaze with the fire of the Holy Spirit to do the impossible so that He receives all the glory in the midst of our inadequacy. If you feel washed up get lit up with God and discover His purpose for your life.
