Don’t let anyone condemn you by insisting on pious self-denial……….. These rules may seem wise because they require strong devotion, pious self-denial, and severe bodily discipline. But they provide no help in conquering a person’s evil desires.
(Colossians 2:18, 23 NLT)

Many people dislike religion because it seems like there are too many rules without any fun. Humans make up their own rules or traditions and package them under a religious name but the Lord gives us the freedom to enjoy life in a relationship with Him. External performance does not always equal internal godliness. Only God truly knows the heart and so we have no right to judge the non-essential or debatable Christian doctrinal beliefs. Human religious rules change but God does not change. The Bible instructs us to “Live as free people, but do not use your freedom as an excuse to do evil. Live as servants of God.” (1 Peter 2:16) Christianity is not a religion but a relationship with the Lord and we should enjoy life without sinning because “where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.” (2 Corinthians 3:17)
