You intended to harm me, but God intended it all for good. He brought me to this position so I could save the lives of many people.
(Genesis 50:20 NLT)

Life sometimes takes us down an unexpected path which seems to be for the worst. Our perspective can be very limited and we fail to understand the reasoning behind difficult circumstances. The man Joseph in the Bible was thrown into a pit by his own family members and left for dead only later to be taken as a slave on a road down to Egypt. What Joseph did not realize was that God was positioning him on a path for success. Years later God promoted Joseph to rule over Egypt being second only to Pharaoh. Joseph was able to use his position to save the lives of his entire family during a very severe famine. When life seemingly takes us on a path for the worst the Lord is leading us on a path for His best if we yield to His sovereign direction. Always remember that promotions take time and God’s definition of success is personal sacrifice for the benefit of others.
