“how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, purify our conscience from dead works to serve the living God.” (Hebrews 9:14 ESV)

Sand sculpting is a fun leisure activity on a nice beach day. Many hours can be invested into building a detailed sculpture but no matter how much effort we spend constructing the sculpture it will never become alive. The reality is that in just one day the elements of nature will quickly erode whatever is built transforming it into an unrecognizable mound of nothing. We expend much energy in life building sand monsters that have no eternal significance. These dead works waste our time and resources to keep us out of the will of God. In heaven all useless activities will be exposed as idols that we have made. The Bible instructs us to build our life’s work on the firm foundation of Jesus Christ. “If the work survives, that builder will receive a reward.” (1 Corinthians 3:14)
