“Remember how the Lord your God led you through the wilderness for these forty years, humbling you and testing you to prove your character, and to find out whether or not you would obey his commands. For all these forty years your clothes didn’t wear out, and your feet didn’t blister or swell.”
(Deuteronomy 8:2, 4 NLT)

Sometimes we ask why we have to go through difficult times that never seem to end. The Israelites walked in the wilderness for 40 years but God miraculously provided what they needed including the shoes on their feet. It is easy to praise God when life is going very well but not many people will still bless the Lord during the wilderness struggles. The long journey of hardship humbles us to rely on God’s provision and to test our patience as we faithfully follow His commands. Everyone has to walk through their own wilderness but God provides the footwear to comfort the journey.
