“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was formless and empty, and darkness covered the deep waters. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters. Then God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.”
(Genesis 1:1-3 NLT)

Contrary to the opinion of modern academia, life did not evolve autonomously from the primordial slime for without God the earth is not able to sustain itself. All three members of the Holy Trinity can be seen working in cooperation during the first day of creation as recorded in Genesis. God the Holy Spirit was hovering over the waters waiting for God the Father to speak a creative word. The very first words spoken by Father God on the first day were “let there be light.” God did not create the natural light from the sun until the fourth day and so this light described on the first day represents the Light of God the Son Jesus Christ who is the Light of the world. (John 8:12) In the beginning the Holy Spirit breathed life into an empty world at Father God’s creative command to be seen in the Light of Jesus.God commands his people to be life in a dead world to shine the light of Jesus to those who live in darkness.
