“In the shelter of your presence you hide them from all human intrigues; you keep them safe in your dwelling from accusing tongues. Praise be to the Lord, for he showed me the wonders of his love when I was in a city under siege.”
(Psalm 31:20, 21 NIV)

Life can be cruel at times. Uncontrollable situations may arise in which we feel helpless. Troubling circumstances are often paired up with voices of accusation that see the vulnerability of hardship as an opportunity to attack the walls of our stronghold. Being without help is different then being without hope. Believers put their hope in God’s loving presence that shelters their minds from the fiery darts of criticism. Without a critical enemy we would not experience the strong walls of God’s reassuring love.
