“Let your eyes look directly forward, and your gaze be straight before you. Do not swerve to the right or to the left; turn your foot away from evil.”
(Proverbs 4:25, 27 ESV)

Traffic accidents cause a significant number of injuries and fatalities every year. US government statistics indicate that “11% of all drivers under the age of 20 involved in fatal crashes were reported as distracted at the time of the crash. This age group has the largest proportion of drivers who were distracted. About 40% of all American teens say they have been in a car when the driver used a cell phone in a way that put people in danger.” (1) Not paying attention to where we are going is hazardous to our physical health but this also applies to our spiritual health. Spiritual distractions can come in the form of excessive entertainment or socializing with the wrong friends. These meaningless activities have no eternal relevance and ultimately lead us on the road to destructive sinful behaviors. Fixing our eyes on Jesus keeps us focused on the road to eternal life.
