“So David triumphed over the Philistine with only a sling and a stone, for he had no sword. Then David ran over and pulled Goliath’s sword from its sheath. David used it to kill him and cut off his head.”
(1 Samuel 17:50, 51 NLT)

The Biblical account of David and the giant Goliath is a well known inspirational story. Giants are all the same in that they intimidate their opponents with fear by their overwhelming size and they use large weapons to kill their enemies. Ironically, in this great victory of faith David defeats Goliath and cuts of his head with the very sword that he was going to use to kill David. Life can be full of “giant problems” which fill us with fear. They attempt to kill our faith in the promises of God using swords of circumstances which can come as financial difficulties, personal health issues or relationship conflicts. Ironically, the Lord can use the very weapon designed to destroy our hope for the future to cut off the head of the thing that we fear the most.
