“Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a dream fulfilled is a tree of life.”
(Proverbs 13:12 NLT)

Seeing a sunflower plant always makes me feel happy bringing a smile to my face. I love eating sunflower seeds everyday because they taste great. Sunflower seeds are also known as the best whole-food source of Vitamin E which is an antioxidant important to health. In fact just one ounce of oil-roasted sunflower seeds provides 76% of the Recommended Dietary Allowance for vitamin E. Sunflower seed sources of vitamin E are used more readily by our bodies than those obtained from supplements.(1) Research has demonstrated that Vitamin E may help prevent coronary heart disease by decreasing cholesterol.(2) People with major depression have significantly lower blood vitamin E concentrations and they might be more prone to develop heart disease.(3) Those who are depressed have lost hope. Ironically our all knowing God of hope created a happy looking sunflower plant which produces seeds that naturally help fight depression and heal the broken heart. Sunflowers might bring some happiness but only placing our hope in the Lord Jesus Christ can truly fulfill dreams and put an eternal smile on our face.
