My smart phone’s ability to process new information has really declined lately because the memory space has been completely used up with pictures. These photo images of the past are limiting the joyful experience of taking new photos. My smart phone’s problem reminds me that we often have to delete previous mind sets from the past in order to move forward fully engaged in the blessings that God has prepared for us in the future. Frequently dwelling on past negative events is not good for our mental health. Researchers at Ohio State University have found that just thinking about stressful experiences actually increases inflammation in the body and chronic levels of inflammation can lead to depression (1) The Bible tells us to forget about the past and look forward to our heavenly future with Christ Jesus. So let’s think forward and delete the past.
