“My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”
(Galatians 2:20 NLT)

I know of a man who was entertaining some house guests and the mother of one of the guests was very ill with the flu. She should have stayed home to recover but nevertheless she came to the house and the man did his best to make her comfortable with some loving hospitality. As they left to go home he cordially embraced the sick women and with a kiss to her cheek said goodbye as per the usual cultural tradition. The man knew all about the airborne modes of flu transmission but he made the sacrifice to kiss the sick woman anyways. Unfortunately within 24 hours he also came down with the flu resulting in an entire week of misery. Love always has a cost. When we choose to love we choose to sacrifice. God is love and he showed us the way. Jesus sacrificed his life on a cross and he did it for love. Love has a cost. What are we willing to spend?
